Hi! Will the shampoo/conditioner dye my hands/skin?

Steph

No, there is no dyeing/tinting of your hands or skin at all! The products are fully water soluble so just wash out

I'm more dark auburn/copper than ginger/red head and I have a lot of grey coming through as I'm 50 and constantly doing root touch ups at home as salons are too expensive for me and the frequency I would need it to be done due to incredibly fast hair growth. Will this product work in auburn/copper hair and will it give me the coverage I'm looking for on the grey? I'd like to stop dying it ideally.

Julie M.

It depends on whether there are any warm, reddish tones left in the more grey-coloured strands. The way the henna works in our products is it is able to enhance the vibrancy of any red tones still within the strand. So, while we say that fully grey hair is unlikely to be affected, if there is still some red glints in there then you should a gradual boost in vibrancy of those tones through use of Gingerful. We hope that helps!

Does this shampoo add color to the gray strands or just enhance the red?

Debbie M.

The level in henna is only able to enhance the vibrancy of the existing tones, rather than adding any further red where there is none already. We hope that makes sense!

Hello! So happy to find this product. My hairstylist of 18 yrs put the fear of henna into me after I used it once on my hair. He wouldn't dye my hair for a year because of it. He said Henna ruins your hair and you can't do both - dye and henna. I'm a natural redhead who lost my luster a few years ago. I now dye it. I miss my natural color. I'm older though now with some (alot) gray. I'd like to go back to my natural color. How safe is this shampoo while I go through the dying to my natural color process (it's a dark red now) to where I'm not dying it anymore and only using this. I have very long hair and have since broken up with my hairstylist. I know you said small amount of henna...but. I'm wary. Ive never seen a product like this and I'd like to try it. Thank you for your time! 💜

Thanks for your question! Yes, you are fine to use our products if you've dyed/bleached your hair, as there are no additional metallic salts added to our henna – that's what you have to watch out for. Hope that helps put your mind at rest!

I have never dyed my naturally redhair, I'd like to keep it that way. That being said, I know this says it gradually enhances redhair and when you stop using it it goes away, is this dyeing your hair overtime, is it a semi type dye? I just don't want to ruin my color and I don't want to dye it, naturally or chemically.

Savannah

Hi Savannah, this is affecting the strands in a semi-permanent way, yes. But it isn't adding any colour, if that makes sense. So, dye would be referring to a colour being adding to the strand, but actually the henna works differently – the small amount works with any existing red pigment in the strand to enhance the vibrancy of that pigment. It doesn't paint the strands, which is what you would commonly describe a dye to be doing. The henna is clever in that it works with your specific red tones so the boosting that happens will work with your shade rather than look like the strands have been painted. We hope that helps!
