We were initially very excited for this, but the flavor just doesn't seem to have the alleged payoff. The garlic scapes are the strongest out of this bunch for flavor, but I do not find the flavor payoff is what promised or worth the price. I also understand the choice to not include fillers- particularly the dubious "natural flavors"- especially for those of us with fears around cross contamination for FODMAPS. However I find that without the fillers, the clumping of spices lends it to less reliable texture and flavor. I would ask Gourmend to perhaps reconsider their position on treating all fillers as adverse- there are ones that are proven safe for consumption that also improve texture and shelf life. I am hopeful and will continue using the spices, however would love to see some iterative improvements.

I ordered the Onion, Garlic and Garlic and Chive Scapes with some trepidation, hoping for the best, but prepared for another product that I could not eat. I have tried several different products in the past and have been disappointed because I was not able to use them. I have used all three products separately and combined (garlic and onion) in different recipes and have enjoyed the taste and have not had any adverse reactions. I am thrilled that I can use these seasonings again! Thank you!!

How is it low FODMAP if it’s garlic and onion?
Hi Maggie! It’s the bulbs of garlic and onion that are high FODMAP (high in fructans). Instead, we use parts of plants like the green tops of scallions, garlic scapes and garlic chives instead. They have a similar but more mild flavor that’s tasty, gentle and certified low FODMAP (through lab testing)!
Hi Hayley, appreciate the feedback! If any of your bottles were clumping upon arrival, that really should not be (I'll drop you a note). Storing in humid conditions or used over a steaming pot, though, might cause this over time. I don't think we'd make the tradeoff to include silicon dioxide in these though – that's the most reliable anti-caking agent but may not be great for you. That would not change the flavor though. For sure, these parts of the plants are more mild than the "real thing" -- we've found that blooming in oil or butter can help bring out more flavors as well.
