It is a type that requires less actual dried seamoss to make a gel and this one is dried thoroughly, so it will weigh a bit less than the partially dried ones. For people complaining about texture, you have to be flexible with your recipes... if it's too stiff then use less next time and be sure to soak it with fresh lime to help break it down. In my opinion, any complaints about this are likely user error.
