We purchased the Princeton fireplace with classic wood boxers and the seat wall extensions. I talked to Paul a couple of times before buying. He said if you can level, square and plum, you can do this and he was right. I can’t say enough great things about Paul. He was very informative, friendly and had great suggestions. The delivery driver, Johny, was outstanding, as well. He went out of his way to get the blocks as close to the location as he could. The purchase and delivery processes were flawless. My wife (64) and I (70) assembled the kits ourselves. She did the adhesive caulking and I laid the block. We took our time to make sure we were following the detailed diagrams, step by step. The only help we needed was with placing the caps, which was supplied by my brother-in-law and nephew. We have already had a few people make comments about how beautiful it is and shocked that my wife and I did it ourselves. The Romanstone kits are an outstanding product and value and I would highly recommend them. To have this professionally installed would easily be 3-4 times the cost. You won’t be disappointed.

I (strong-willed husband) have always wanted a backyard fireplace and thought of building one from scratch. Given time and other constraints, that was out of the question. Admittedly, we were apprehensive about ordering a fireplace online. But, after countless hours of research (insert wife’s eye roll here), we purchased the Freemont fireplace kit and planned on building it on an existing patio. After ordering, Paul called to review our order, answered any questions, and explained the shipping process (all the great reviews and wonderful things you read about Paul are spot on! He’s incredible.). A week later, we spoke to my brother who is a contractor. After explaining that I was going to saw cut the patio around the unit, he was still concerned about the weight cracking the patio, so we decided to build a separate pad off of the patio just to be safe. Given the new location, we wanted the larger Princeton fireplace. The day before the unit was to ship, we called Paul asking if we could upgrade. After checking with Production, he called back and said yes, and the upgraded unit shipped the very next day. Amazing. A friend helped the delivery driver (really cool guy) place the pallets exactly where we wanted them. I (determined, perfectionist husband) built the fireplace myself over several days. As you can see from the pics, the fireplace is not “perfect”, but all can be contributed to user error (insert stubborn husband’s name here). The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. Where I ran into issues can be attributed mainly to one thing: using too much glue. My erroneous thinking was, “if a little is good, (much) more has to be great” WRONG! Less is definitely more here. That made it difficult to maintain level in some areas and I had to use coins to shim (so much that I increased the cost of the unit significantly!). I used scaffolding on the front which made the cap more manageable (a neighbor helped me with that), while setting up two ladders, one on each side. The average DIY'er can build this with tremendous results. We’ve used the fireplace many times and it works perfectly. It drafts and smoke comes out the top of the chimney and not the sides or front. We’ve had so many great comments about it so I’m sure that I’ll be helping build several more soon. My wife has done some decorating to it, with much more planned. We’re thinking of adding a limestone hearth and perhaps a rough-cut wood mantle in the future. We highly recommend Romanstone. The people are great and so is the product. You won’t be disappointed!

We ordered the Fremont kit with 1 batwing and 2 chimney extensions for extra height… My husband, myself and our 2 children put all together in a couple of days. It is Beautiful amd we use every night! Delivery was the most stressful part because we don’t live in a regular street. Off road dead end…
BABarbara A.Verified buyer I can’t say enough about the company and the experience. They were easy to reach, answered all of my questions, and provided excellent instructions and guidance for assembly. The product is exactly as shown. We would definitely order from Roman Stone again. Highly, highly recommend.
DTDominic T.Verified buyerGreat ordering process. Friendly, helpful people. Order arrived within 2 weeks. They only deliver to your driveway, so be prepared to load the bricks onto a cart and get them to the backyard yourself. Came on 1 pallet with adhesive and fairly easy to follow instructions included. Total time to install, from moving to backyard, power washing the bricks to get the dirt/dust off in order for the adhesive to work better (not mentioned in the directions, but I think it's the smart thing to do), and assembly was just under 4 hours, and I wasn't in a hurry. It's worth the time and work because the fire pit is beautiful. To have someone build it for you would probably cost twice as much. If you are putting it on a cement slab, make sure to put 2 - 3 inches of sand on the bottom prior to using it. The heat from the fire on unprotected cement will cause it to crack. This advise is coming from someone who spent 20 years working with cement and firebrick, so I followed it.

This was a large project. All the parts came as advertised and were sorted on individual pallets. The two circle kits were easy to recognize and the remaining three pallets were numbered. Each pallet had some extra product on it which allowed us to create a short walkway toward another area of the backyard. Delivery team was awesome. Eventhough it is curbside delivery, they made a very hard attempt to move the pallets closer to our backyard. Overall - no complaints at all. Sidenote - it is all about soil prep. Any mistakes there cause problems later. Take your time and do it right and the kit will come together beautifully.
SCSasa C.Verified buyer We purchased two kits to create a 12.5 ft diameter circle patio. We ran out of regular sized rectangle pavers and had to adapt using the skinny rectangle pavers. Bit frustrating to run out. Definitely didn’t have as many as two kits indicated I’d have. But we made it work and it looks fine.

We are sorry for the delay. There was a in route delay at Salt Lake City, Utah on the way west to California. The terminal there was backed up with many loaded trailers trying to get unloaded and then moved west. This is a nation wide issue right now. I just heard there are 62 freight ships sitting in Long Beach waiting to get unloaded. Some of these ships have been delayed for more than 4 weeks. Then this material has to be loaded on trucks and shipped to its final destination. The trucking industry is short nationally 250,000 drivers and this number is going up monthly with the increase in regulations being mandated by the government. Please stay tuned and stay patient, it is affecting all of our daily lives in one fashion or another.
