We are very pleased with how our kit turned out. This will allow us to use our outdoor space even more than we already did. Wonderful! We ordered a Princeton fireplace with 2 classic wood boxes. We also ordered 4 chimney extensions. Two were for the chimney itself to get the height high enough so smoke came out above our pergola. Two were to raise the base 2 bricks per the optional install. I highly recommend this option as it raises the fire chamber to about eye level when seated around the fireplace. Our order arrived on 12 pallets. We rented a small boom fork lift to get them all to our back yard and save my back. We poured a 6 inch reinforced slap with sonotubes below the frost line due to the extra weight of our setup. Once the slab was set, we followed the instructions to add the extra base with concrete in the voids. My wife and I handled 99% of the install. The only time we needed help was the wood box slabs as they were just to much for the two of us to handle. Install was easy....just took it slow. The bricks are "very dirty and dusty", so be prepared to spend as much time cleaning them as you do actually assembling them. The height of the chimney became a challenge, so we stood on the wood boxes for some and then added pallets on top of the wood boxes to get to the top. The chimney cap stone was way to high up with the extension and too heavy to "heave" it up, so I rented a material lift for $40. That allowed us to get it up to height and then easily slide it into place. Overall, we couldn't be happier. I highly recommend.

My wife and I built the fireplace in a couple of days. We are both 75 years old and we worked at a steady pace. The kit was great, everything explained perfectly. Paul at Midwest was great. Resolved the experience.

Went together as promised. Would recommend building fire box with fire bricks as soon as they can stand on edge (e.g., alternating steps right after step 3 or 4) Built a sweet scaffold to hoist the top cap with the help of the neighbors. Wish I had photos

JBJames B.Verified buyerMy experience started a little frustrating, I could not get in touch with anyone to answer some questions. Once my questions were answered every thing went great. The kits were delivered quickly and the instructions were user friendly. The fire pit looks great.

The kit arrived sooner than I expected. I poured a concrete slab 4.5’ x 4.5’. It was easy to put together and used a level on each row to keep it even and plum. It was basically like playing legos. I am very happy with the finished product. Can’t wait for another tall person to come to my house so we can put the capstone on. It’s heavy.

Ben...Great job. I like the idea of renting a material lift for $40 to get the Chimney Top Cap in place. Good call. I even see a Big Ass Square was used in order to keep things square and plumb. Enjoy!! Roman Stone
