Well my old phono stage was too noisy, too much his and hum, so I needed to upgrade but I’m on a budget. Nothing much sounded like it would be good enough in my price range....until I read about the simaudio moon lp110 mk2 and from what I read, it sounded almost too good to be true. But I figured at that price it was worth a punt. There was a bit of confusion with my order but it was handled brilliantly by Richie and as soon as it arrived, I knew if was something a bit special. It is quite small but beautifully designed and has a reassuring weight to it. All the switches are discretely hidden underneath but they provide a handy tool for flicking them into the right position. On the front it just says moon and has a bright but not annoying blue light and that’s it, but it looks very stylish. Now on to the real meat of the review-how does it sound? Bear in mind I’m only a week in to the burn in period (they recommend 300 hours before it sounds it’s best but it stays on all the time), so I’m doing this a bit early but quite frankly I’m already blown away! It is so quiet, all you can hear is the music! And because it’s so quiet, you can hear every single bit of the music. Even on albums I know really well, I’m hearing new details that got lost before. The highs are crisp and clean and the mids are pure class. The bass is very tight and detailed. Some people might find it slightly light but I think it’s just so we’ll balanced that it doesn’t take over and it digs deep. There is so much air too, every instrument has its own space and it never gets overwhelmed when there is lots of varying frequencies going on. The soundstage is open and quite three dimensional and I feel like the music is spread out in front of me rather than just coming out of the speakers, if I close my eyes I can almost forget the speakers are there! I’ve tried rock, pop, swing, neo jazz, classical and electronic dance stuff and so far I haven’t found anything that doesn’t sound amazing! So to round it up, if you are looking for a beautifully engineered, amazing sounding phono stage which punches well above it’s fairly budget price tag, check out this little beauty. I am sure you won’t be disappointed!
MDMichelle D.Verified buyerNice little phono stage. Probably the only one you'll ever need.
MFMartin F.Verified buyerVery happy with the service and the new tonearm. Great work!! Would highly recommend.
DTDion T.Verified buyerFantastic results for the price. Previously, I had written off mains cables as only making a small difference. The Eros distribution block made a massive difference to me and lacked the sibilant effects of the Styx block
