Hello Greg, no gap should not be present where caulked, we apologize for that and will refund for the caulking. As for the rivets, it is written on our submittal available in this product page that for certain materials, that is the way it has to be made. Galvalume, and pre painted material like Kynar steel and aluminum cannot be soldered, so the ONLY way it can be manufactured is by riveting parts together. We appreciate your review and the opportunity to clarify further about rivets to our other customers. If you'd like to email me a picture of the calking, I would like to show it to my guys to ensure this doesn't happen again. Thank you!
