We were teaching fly casting to veterans the head instructor saw my imnaha rod and asked if could cast it he said to me “ I don’t want you to get a swelled head or anything but that’s one of the nicest rods I’ve ever cast “ . In the mean time ai have been fishing wet flies for some very aggressive Brown and Rainbow trout. I love this rod

I bought this this bait casting rod because it reminded me of my father's rod that he had when he was a kid. I even got an old style bait casting reel to go with it. I am now in search of a vintage style line to finish off this package. The rod is beautiful and looks very responsive. I can't wait to try it out and see how it does with a tug-o-war with a nice trout. The Folks at Headwaters were very helpful with my two purchases (a fly rod too). They are informative and got the products to me in record time. I highly recommend this shop.
JSJames S.Verified buyerI've owned a 3wt 6'-6" headwaters for about ten years and love it but wanted something in bamboo a little more powerful for larger water and weighted nymph fishing. The Deluxe Metolius 7'-6" medium action was just the right rod for me. I've used us for a couple of months now and can say it's everything I wanted. The construction is first rate, ferrules are well made & tight, hardware & cork grip is well done, and it's a dream to cast. I also own, and use, an ORVIS 8'-0" 6wt Battenkill built in 1966 that I enjoy but find it a little heavy (4 3/8 oz). I also own and use a number of high end graphite rods in 2 wt, 3 wt, 5 wt, 6 wt, & 8 wt but usually pick up the Headwaters rods whenever I fish water appropriate to their design weight.
WWahIt-s a simple, no non-sense reel that works nicely on my small stream fiberglass fly rods when fishing for brook trout.
