  Just received my Headwaters Henry’s Fork bamboo fly rod - and I couldn’t be happier with it. Wonderful craftsmanship, gentle and relaxing feel... it’s exactly the sort of bamboo rod I’ve been trying to find for the past two years! Brings back fond memories as a kid when I fished with a bamboo rod ( albeit a somewhat gnarly one! ) in the rivers of south eastern Australia... yep, I feel like a kid again with this rod and can’t wait to try it out on the water!

  Deluxe Series Bamboo Fly Rod

  I bought the ROGUE 7' 6" 5-WT this past spring. Now, with well over 500 trout caught with it, I can tell you that I would unconditionally recommend this rod. While I get plenty of feel and play with 6" trout, this rod has a lot of back bone too! It is very accurate and protects my tippets nicely. This has been my go to rod. I am usually on small rivers and creeks throwing dry/dropper combinations. Just so you get an idea of my thoughts on this company: I bought a Victory series today (MOYIE 8' 3WT) to fill a gap I had in my collection.

  Premier Series Outfit

  I got into Bamboo a few years ago, refurbishing old vintage rods in bad shape by stripping them down to bare blank and building them back up; worked out OK but realize the glue holding the strips together is still old. I tried purchasing a blank, Payne 98, and built that up; nice rod. I then saw a Headwaters Metolius on EBay, was missing a tip section and no sock or tube. I threw a ridiculous cheap offer at it and they took it. What a beautiful rod! I then checked the site, did some research and ordered a Henry’s Fork on a sale. I can’t believe the workmanship in these rods. I hand rub polish my rods but can’t get the mirror finish of these Headwater rods, even the old Metolius looks great. The guide windings are top notch and both rods cast like a dream. I still plan to purchase the Grande Ronde for small stream fishing and a Deshutes for tail waters and bass. I’m hoping to see newer models come along.

  Premier Series Fly Rod BLANKS

  I just received my Premier Series Fly Rod Blanks and am really liking what I see! Quality is excellent! Very pretty blanks and real nice nickle silver ferrules. I can make a bamboo rod from these blanks that I can take a lot of pride in making! Recommend these blanks to all who want to build a bamboo rod for themselves!

  Clark Fork Fly Reel

  I just received this reel after waiting a few weeks for delivery. For the price, and based on the product description provided on the website, this reel it as described. It has the look and feel of an old time fly reel. It definitely seems to fit the function and style of a bamboo rod with it's retro look and click and prawl-basic drag system, and universal (left/right hand) retrieve. To me this reel is priced about right. Looking forward to getting out there and using this reel and my new Victory series bamboo rod!

  Premier Series Outfit

  I received my Henry's Fork 7'9" 5 wt today. Very quick delivery! I was very pleased with the fit/finish of the rod. It has the look of a rod that would cost 5 times as much. I haven't been able to get it out on the stream yet but I have cast it in the backyard and I was very impressed. The rod has a very full, laid back action that has lots of feel for those close-in casts but also lots of reserve power to shoot out a 50 foot cast if needed with no problem. I have owned half a dozen different bamboo rods over the years and I wanted an affordable everyday rod to takeout and not have to worry about beating it up a little bit. This rod is exactly what I was looking for and more!

  Deluxe Series Bamboo Fly Rod

  I just bought by my second rod and reel from Headwaters bamboo and I am looking forward to test this 6 wt on the water. I am an Argentine expatriated and working in Azerbaijan. The only opportunity I have for fly fishing here is for carp which is something I haven't seen anyone do here (yet). Yesterday, I managed to fish a 51 cm/ 2 lbs carp with the Headwaters Grande Ronde 6' 6" 3-wt I bought from Headwaters no long ago. It was amazing!! I had to fight the fish for almost 15 minutes hoping the rod will cope with it and it did, amazingly. What a fantastic piece of rod (and reel). Again, thanks for making such a great product at affordable prices and proving a fantastic service.

  Deluxe Series Bamboo Fly Rod

  I purchased the Grande Ronde 6'-6" 3wt as a 50th birthday present to myself and am very pleased! This is the first bamboo rod I've ever owned so I wasn't quite sure what to expect - especially at this price point. After a few hours of fishing, I discovered a minor issue and contacted David at Headwaters Bamboo Rods for direction. New to 'boo', I wasn't sure if the issue was typical of a rod made of natural materials or something I had done wrong in care or casting. David worked with me and chose to replaced the rod. Not only am I very pleased with the rod, I am also pleased with the customer service. Headwaters Bamboo Rods stands behind their products!
